About
Program

Seattle Beauty Academy’s Cosmetology Program is a 1,600-hour, state-approved course covering the full scope of professional hairstyling — cutting, coloring, chemical services, and styling — alongside the skin, nail, and business fundamentals Washington requires for licensure. You’ll build your skills on real clients in our on-site training clinic under instructors currently working in Seattle salons, so you graduate with a portfolio and real client-facing experience, not just a certificate.

Objective

The program is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to pass the State Board theory and practical exams, as well as to develop proficient expertise in your profession.

Professional hairstyles

Learn how to create trendy hairstyles, from simple to complex, creative hairstyles.

Hair care and repair

Provides knowledge about hair care methods, damaged hair repair, helping you become an expert in preserving the natural beauty of your hair.

Hair coloring and perming techniques

Master the latest hair coloring, perming and straightening techniques in the hair industry.

Customer service and consulting

TRAINING PROGRAM

The Cosmetology course is divided into theoretical and practical modules, allowing students to learn and practice right in the classroom:

THEORY

  • Students will be equipped with basic knowledge about hair structure, hair care products, safety and hygiene in the hairdressing industry.
  • Review and guidance for the theory exam.

PRACTICE

  • From theory, students will directly practice on real hair, from styling, cutting, dyeing to curling, straightening, and restoring hair, helping you master the techniques and grasp modern trends.
  • Practice the steps to take the State Board practical exam.

CAREER OUTLOOK

Washington consistently ranks among the highest-paying states in the country for cosmetologists, with a median annual wage of roughly $58,920 — well above the national median.
