This course at Seattle Beauty Academy is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to pass the Washington State Board theory and practical exams, as well as to develop proficient expertise in your profession.

From simple hairstyles to elaborate, complex hairstyles, you will learn how to apply precise and creative hair cutting techniques.
Hairstyles
Discover modern hair styling trends, from curly, straight, long, short hair to hairstyles for special occasions such as festivals and weddings.

You will learn how to use specialized tools such as curling irons, straighteners, blow dryers, and effective hair care products to create beautiful, long-lasting hairstyles.

Hair Design course at Seattle Beauty Academy is organized with a combination of theory and practice, ensuring that students have a sufficient knowledge base and practical skills:
THEORY

Theory helps you understand the principles behind professional hair services.
- Your education includes knowledge related to hair structure, hair care, styling methods, products, and choosing appropriate hairstyles for individual clients. Students also receive preparation and guidance related to the theory portion of the state licensing examination.
HANDS-ON PRACTICE

Practical training gives you the opportunity to turn concepts into actual skills.

You’ll practice hair services and styling techniques, work through different approaches, and develop greater control and confidence as your training progresses. The program also includes practice related to the Washington State practical examination.
PROGRAM LENGTH
Hair Design Program requires 1,400 training hours.
The total calendar time needed to complete those hours depends on your weekly attendance and the schedule available to you.
For example:
- 20 hours per week: approximately 70 weeks
- 30 hours per week: approximately 47 weeks
- 35 hours per week: approximately 40 weeks
- 40 hours per week: approximately 35 weeks
