About Course

The Esthetics Program at Seattle Beauty Academy is a 750-hour, state-approved course that combines theory and hands-on practice to prepare you for a career in professional skin care. You’ll train on real clients in our on-site clinic, learn from instructors currently working in the Seattle beauty industry, and graduate ready to sit for the Washington State Department of Licensing esthetics exam.

Full-time students typically complete the program in about 6–9 months. A part-time/evening schedule is also available — see below for current cohort dates.

Objective

The course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to pass the State Board theory and practical exams, as well as to develop proficient expertise in your profession.

Intensive facial care

Basic and advanced skin care methods — cleansing, extractions, moisturizing, anti-aging, and acne treatment protocols — plus premium services like facials and facial massage.

Eyelash extensions

From classic, single-strand application to volume and artistic lash styles.

Waxing

Full-body waxing techniques for effective, safe hair removal and smooth results.

Building a client skin care routine

How to assess skin type and condition, recommend a home-care routine, and retain clients long-term — a core skill spas pay for.

TRAINING PROGRAM

The Esthetics course is divided into theoretical and practical parts, ensuring that students have solid knowledge and practical skills:

THEORY

  • Skin structure, skin types, and common skin conditions
  • Cosmetic chemistry and product ingredients used in facials, lash extensions, and waxing
  • Client consultation, contraindications, and safety/sanitation standards
  • Structured review sessions ahead of the State Board theory exam

PRACTICE

  • Real-client facial treatments, extractions, and massage
  • Eyelash extension application (classic and volume)
  • Full-body waxing services
  • Supervised mock exams that mirror the State Board practical exam format
